Jane Stuart painting raffle list
This collection contains a list of sixty raffle participants, at 5 dollars a ticket, for a painting of George Washington by Jane Stuart based on one by her father, Gilbert Stuart. Proceeds were to benefit “the Club” possible the Newport Reading Room. The raffle was held in Newport, Rhode Island in August 1868.
Jean Goode collection of concrete poetry publications
This collection contains materials collected by Jean and Stephen Goode related to concrete and visual poetry of the 1960s and 70s. These include catalogs and promotional materials from publishers including Black Sparrow Press, Unicorn Press, and Something Else Press. There are also poetry postcards and prints mainly from poet Ian Hamilton Finlay.

This collection contains a letter from John Emory dated December 31, 1823, thanking the Board of Visitors & Governors of Washington College for conferring on him the honorary degree of Gradus Doctoralis in Sacrosancta Theologia. Also included is a transcript of the letter.
John F. Melvin account books
This collection contains two account books kept by John F. Melvin regarding his business transactions including timber and agriculture. After John’s death in 1876 the accounts were continued by his family. There are many items inserted into the books including receipts, indentures, and a notice of John’s death.
John P. Stanley English II essay
This collection contains one essay written by John P. Stanley. This essay was the final examination for English II and was written on June 3, 1935. Topics include definitions and examples of "point of view", "climax", pentameter in poetry, and a discussion of Thomas Hardy's writing style.
John T. Dodd & Sons records
This collection contains five ledgers covering the history of John T. Dodd & Sons Undertakers. The first ledger is for John T.’s carpenter business it shows various building jobs but also numerous requests for coffins including from slaveowners for their slaves. The later ledgers show how the business moving away from carpentry and more to undertaking with fewer building jobs entered and more entries regarding the detail on the types of coffins made.

This collection contains a letter from Joseph R. Wickes to Miss Elizabeth Nicholson a teacher at a girl’s school in the home of Gen. Ringgold in Hagerstown, Maryland, dated January 26, 1829. The letter appears to concern legal matters particularly Miss Nicholson’s statement.
